The Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) is a private, nonprofit, share holding company, registered with the Jordanian Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2007. It aims to promote quality improvement and patient safety through accreditation, capacity building and consulting across Jordan and the Arab Region.

HCAC provides comprehensive services that range across all needs of the public, private and nonprofit sectors through its two distinct departments: The Surveyors and Standards Development and the Education and Consultation. The HCAC also develops and administers National Quality and Safety Goals.

Since inception, HCAC has published standards related to hospitals, primary health care and family planning centers, family planning and reproductive health, medical transport services, breast imaging units, diabetes mellitus and cardiac care. Also, HCAC has accredited and reaccredited a number of public, private and nonprofit healthcare institutions in compliance with its standards.

HCAC provides consulting services to public, private and nonprofit institutions specific to approaches and best practices on improving quality and patient safety. It prepares hospitals, primary health care centers and other healthcare facilities to meet standards, and designs, develops and offers certification courses for building the capacity of healthcare professionals.

HCAC is an internationally renowned institution: it is the first and only institution in the Arab region that has achieved the three ISQua accreditations; for its standards, for the surveyors’ certification course and for the organization.
