Remedial Math and Life
This free course is a combination of remedial arithmetic skills and the rudiments of algebra; it is designed in a simplified manner to meet the needs of students lacking sufficient preparation or proficiency for college arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. In addition, the course covers topics such as whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, algebraic representations, operations with polynomials, trigonometric functions, graphs of trigonometric functions and the pythagorean theorem.
The course contains four units. Each unit consists of a series of video lectures and short quizzes. The topics covered in these videos are listed in the course outline.

The intent of this free course is to provide non-science major students with the fundamental math information and core skills that are required to successfully complete college math courses.
COURSE INSTRUCTOR AND STAFF
Dr. Randa El-Sheikh Najdi
Randa Elsheikh Najdi is an assistance professor of math education at Al-Quds Open University, West Bank. She has a PhD and a Masters in math education (2009) from IRS of Cairo, Egypt; a master's degree in pure math from UC Davis at California, USA. She has many certificates in e-learning, and won many awards in Teaching Excellence. She is an e-learning expert and has spent her entire career working in teaching mathematics and has trained a number of teachers in using technology and implementing 21st Century skills. She published a number of researches in local and international refereed Journals.
Riad Zeidan has been working as a faculty member – lecturer at al-Quds Open University – Jenin Branch since 2008 , after he had worked as a part-timer from 2004-2008 . Regarding E-Learning , he has coordinated some curricula in the major of Mathematics and teaching methods . He also taught one course using Video Streaming technology and he is currently filming a course ( Calculus ) for al-Quds Educational Satellite Channel . Currently he prepares for qualifying teachers of Ministry of Education particularly grades 1-4 as a member of teamwork of faculty members . He also participated in numerous seminars for candidate teachers in the Ministry of Education . Moreover , he worked as a Mathematics’ teacher for grades 7-12 at schools related to Ministry of Education from 1984-2008 , and as a trainer for teachers of Mathematics at the Directorate of Education - Jenin within the District Commission for Mathematics Study and got the early retirement and joined Al-Quds Open University. Finally, Riad holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Jordan in 1984 and a master's degree in pure Mathematics from An-Najah National University in 2004.
Lamees is Web Developer/Instructional Designer at Open Learning center at Al-Quds Open University, she develops educational and training courses on various subjects such as programming and statistics. She is currently working on the development of online diploma for French language with cooperation between Al-Quds Open University and the University of Toulouse.
Lamees holds a bachelor degree in computer science from Birzeit University and now she is preparing for her master degree in Methods of Teaching Mathematics from the same University. She gained Training Of Trainers (TOT) certificate and she conducts many online courses during her work, such as Ms project course.
