Graphic Design plays an essential role in our everyday life, but not many people understand what graphic designers do. In this introductory course on the basics of graphic design participants will understand general visual communication concepts and tools in addition to the fundamentals of composition, color, typography and other design elements. Students will gain knowledge of what graphic design is, and how it is used to influence our every day communication in everything we interact with in our daily life. They will also learn how to look at visual communication from a graphic design perspective and will develop necessary skill sets that will help them think conceptually and execute basic design assignments.
Bahia Shehab is an artist, designer and art historian. She is associate professor of design and founder of the graphic design program at The American University in Cairo. Her artwork has been on display in exhibitions, galleries and streets internationally. Her work has received a number of international recognitions and awards; TED fellowship (2012) and TED Senior fellowship (2016), BBC 100 Women list (2013,2014), The American University in Beirut distinguished alumna (2015), Shortlist for V&A’s Jameel Prize 4 (2016), and a Prince Claus Award (2016). Her book "A Thousand Times NO: The Visual History of Lam-Alif" was published in 2010.
He is an Adobe Community Leader and one of the creative Graphic Design Art Directors and Trainers in the Middle East holding 34 International Certificates and Winning 3 international awards in educational field ,his experience exceeded more than 23 year. He studied Arabic calligraphy in Amman and worked in AL-Dustour Newspaper since 1992, and establishing the Graphic Design Training Department in Al-Quds College in 2002، his Graduated trainees exceeded more than 8500. and he is one of the important Arab minds that Adobe consulted on its prerelease programs before they are issued. He also ACI - Adobe Certified Instructor - ACE Adobe Certified Expert - ACA Adobe Certified Associate.
Is a Jordanian digital artist who was born in Amman in 1986. He had his BA Degree in Visual Arts in the University of Jordan in 2008 and graduated from The Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts holding a Master’s Degree in Filmmaking in 2011. Since 2007 Daboub has been working in many different aspects in media production. He has experience in filmmaking, cinematography, photography, directing, editing, sound design, advertising, promotions, motion graphics and 2D animation. He is currently working as a senior video editor at Queen Rania Foundation/ Edraak. He believes that the mixture of arts he has been involved with and is still learning from have created a digital artist out of him.
Nourhan is a graphic designer. She received a bachelor's degree with high honors in visual arts with a specialization in graphic design last year from the American University in Cairo, after finishing her graduation project, which was meant to create a new corporate identity for Al-Montazah Parks in Alexandria. Immediately after her graduation, she did an internship at "Leo Burnett" Cairo (advertising agency) to gain experience of all the systems of branding and advertising. Later, Nourhan decided to work on designing the logos and corporate identities of a number of nascent enterprises. During the college years, she worked as a research assistant throughout 2012-2013 in a team that established a section devoted to graphic design and its history at the library of the university. After that, she cooperated with another team, which was researching history of advertising in the Arab world in order to develop a curriculum of a new history of advertising course as a part of the graphic design program at the university. In addition to that, Nourhan worked as a teaching assistant in a number of graphic design courses at the university.
